When shopping for solar lights, it’s easy to assume: More LEDs = More Light. But LED count alone doesn’t tell you how bright a fixture is.
Our popular TelePatriot™ 800 uses an array of 120 LEDs to produce 800 lumens. The premium TelePatriot™ 1500 takes a completely different approach. Instead of using a larger quantity of smaller LEDs, it uses just 30 oversized high-output LEDs strategically positioned across six angled optical lighting panels to deliver 1,500 lumens.
That’s 75% fewer LED diodes while producing 87.5% more rated light output than our 800-lumen model.

Packing a fixture with more individual LEDs isn’t necessarily the only way to produce more light. Its 30 oversized high-output LEDs generate substantially greater total rated illumination than the 120-LED array used in our TelePatriot 800.
And using 30 LEDs instead of 120 means something else: 90 fewer individual LED diodes in the lighting array. That’s a simpler high-output architecture with fewer individual LED components that could potentially fail over the service life of the fixture.
Wider Light Where Your Flag Actually Flies
A flag is constantly moving. It waves. It changes direction. It extends several feet away from the pole. Yet many traditional solar flagpole lights concentrate much of their illumination almost directly underneath themselves.
TelePatriot™ 1500 approaches the problem differently. Its unique hexagonal design incorporates 6 angled lighting panels — each containing five oversized high-output LEDs positioned to throw illumination outward as well as downward.
Instead of creating only a concentrated pool of light underneath the fixture, this design creates a much broader illumination zone around the top of the flagpole. That matters because your flag isn’t hanging directly underneath your solar light — it’s flying beside it.
MPPT Smart Solar Charging
TelePatriot™ 1500 incorporates MPPT technology — Maximum Power Point Tracking. Rather than relying solely on a basic solar charging arrangement, MPPT technology is designed to optimize the power collected from the solar array as available sunlight changes.
The broad hexagonal upper surface is covered extensively with monocrystalline solar cells, making productive use of the fixture’s large upper surface to capture sunlight throughout the day and convert it into stored energy for nighttime illumination.
Automatic Dusk-to-Dawn Operation

We’d rather set realistic expectations than chase the biggest number we can put on a box. The underlying lighting platform is marketed at output levels reaching 2,000 lumens, but we’ve chosen to position the TelePatriot™ 1500 at a more conservative 1,500 lumens.

Simple Installation

Charge — Before initial installation, allow the solar light to receive a full charge in direct sunlight.

Activate — Press the activation button according to the included instructions and verify operation by covering the solar panel to simulate darkness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the TelePatriot 1500 have only 30 LEDs?
Because LED count isn’t the same thing as light output. Rather than using a large number of smaller LEDs, TelePatriot 1500 uses 30 oversized high-output LEDs arranged across six optical panels. Our TelePatriot 800 uses 120 LEDs and is rated at 800 lumens. The TelePatriot 1500 uses only 30 LEDs yet is conservatively rated at 1,500 lumens. That’s why we encourage customers to compare lumens and lighting architecture, not LED count alone.
Does fewer LEDs mean there’s less to go wrong?
The TelePatriot 1500’s 30-LED architecture contains 90 fewer individual LED diodes than our 120-LED TelePatriot 800 array. Fewer individual diodes means fewer individual LED components that could potentially experience a component-level failure. Actual product longevity depends on the entire system, including LEDs, battery, electronics, environmental conditions and use, so LED count alone should not be interpreted as a guarantee of service life.
Is the TelePatriot 1500 better than the TelePatriot 800?
They’re designed for different customers. The TelePatriot 800 remains an excellent everyday solar flagpole light. The TelePatriot 1500 is the premium step-up option for customers who prioritize greater illumination, wider light distribution and more advanced solar and optical technology.
How bright is 1,500 lumens?
It’s 87.5% more rated light output than our 800-lumen TelePatriot 800, making the 1500 an excellent choice when stronger flag illumination is the priority.
Does it require electricity?
No. TelePatriot 1500 is solar powered and does not require a dedicated household electrical connection.
Do I have to turn it on every night?
No. Once properly activated and installed, its light-sensing system is designed to automatically illuminate after dark and switch off when daylight returns.
Will it work on cloudy days?
The solar array can collect energy under varying daylight conditions, and its MPPT charging technology is designed to optimize available solar input. However, solar performance naturally depends on available sunlight. Extended cloud cover, shade, winter conditions, snow covering the solar panels and shorter daylight hours can reduce available charging energy and nighttime operating duration.
Is it waterproof?
The fixture carries an IP67 weather-protection rating and is designed for outdoor exposure.
Will it work with my flagpole?
TelePatriot 1500 is designed as a top-mounted flagpole light. Compatibility depends on the dimensions and topper configuration of the specific flagpole. For Atlantic Flagpole customers, contact us if you’re uncertain about compatibility before ordering.
