Wind rating
100 MPH Wind‑Rated Performance
The 20 and 25 ft Phoenix flagpoles carry 100 MPH Wind-Rated Performance when properly installed with one approved 4'×6' or smaller flag and the standard 3" ball. Here is what that means, and when to take the flag down.
- 20 & 25 ft
- 100 MPH Wind-Rated Performance
- 15 ft
- Its own wind rating
- Approved flag
- One 4'×6' or smaller

Built from 6061-T6 Aluminum
We constructed the Phoenix out of heavy-gauge T6061 Aerospace Aluminum. This specific alloy provides the balance between being lightweight (so anyone can extend it) and strong enough to flex under load.
Instead of snapping like fiberglass or rusting like cheap steel, the T6061 tubing flexes with the wind and returns to straight.
Where the rating applies
The 100 MPH figure is for the 20 and 25 ft Phoenix, set in its ground sleeve as shown in the installation guide, flying one approved 4'×6' or smaller flag with the standard 3" ball. The 15 ft model has its own rating.
Not a warranty item
The Limited Lifetime Forever™ Warranty does not cover tube sections damaged by wind. Wind damage is a separate program with its own terms; see Phoenix Protection.
Take the Flag Down Before a Big Storm
The 100 MPH Wind-Rated Performance applies only with one approved flag of 4'×6' or smaller (or no flag at all). A flag acts like a sail.
In strong winds an attached flag multiplies the strain on the pole and its base. Before a hurricane or extreme storm: unclip the flag and collapse the pole. The telescoping sections slide down by hand and go back up when the weather clears.
Why Other Poles Fail
Sectional / Screwed Poles
Box store poles that screw together in short segments can loosen and break at the threaded joints in strong gusts.
Fiberglass Poles
They bend dramatically. Over time, UV sunlight breaks down the resins, creating micro-fractures that can snap without warning.
Cheap Aluminum
Some online knock-offs use thin-walled or recycled aluminum, which can buckle in storms.
Invest in American Engineering
