The flag of the state of South Dakota sits on a field of sky blue. The state seal in dark blue is centered on the flag within a white circle outlined in dark blue. Radiating from this circle are golden triangles representing the suns rays and the great weather typical of South Dakota. Encircling the seal are the words "South Dakota" on top with the state nickname "The Mount Rushmore State" on the bottom.
The South Dakota State seal was originally designed before statehood, while it was still a territory; however slight alterations have been made since becoming a state. The outer ring contains the words "State of South Dakota" on the top with "Great Seal" on the bottom along with the year 1889, which is the year of statehood. Within the state seal, there is a banner which reads "Under God the People Rule". The picture features a river with a boat, a farmer, hills, cattle, and a mine. These images invoke the mind to remember the state's commerce, agriculture, natural resources, and industry. All reproductions of the state seal by law must be specifically in accord with and based on John Moisan's original painting of the states Great Seal.
In 1992 the state's nickname changed to its current lingo from "The Sunshine State pre-1992 flags will have these words on the bottom of the state seal image. The state flag was set on a field of dark blue until 1963 when it was changed to the current color of sky blue.

It is a shame the plastic doesn't last longer. Yet they sell you a solar light and an eagle topper that the "forever" warranty voids.... So every 6-8 months plan on replacing out of your pocket.
I like the flag pole just fine. It looks nice. But I have tried to get in touch with you about the refund due to me of $210. It had items on it that I did not order and did not receive. I had to email with Kevin who issued this refund on July 3 but it has never been on my credit card. I tried to actually call and talk to a real person. Please take care of this. The flag pole itself is really nice but we need to get this other problem corrected. Thank you.
I love everything about this pole and system!!! the only issue I have is the flag attachments don't always swivel properly. I know they said no lubrication is required, but is there anything that can help?
