3x5 Michigan State Flag For Sale The state of Michigan has a dark blue flag with Michigan State's coat of arms. The coat of arms has a light blue shield with the sun rising over peninsula and lake with a man holding one arm up representing peace but in his other hand a long gun which represents the fight for the state and nation. The word "Tuebor" is inscribed on the shield which means "I will defend." Two of Michigans great animals, a moose, and elk, support the shield. Over the top of the shield, a bald eagle stands atop. This eagle represents the United States. Above the eagle, a red banner reads "E Pluribus Unum," the motto of the United States of America, which means "Out of many, one." Joining the elk and the moose is a white ribbon which reads "Si Quæris Peninsulam Amœnam Circumspice," which is the official state motto which interprets to "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you." The current Michigan flag was adopted in 1911 and is the third state flag. The first flag featured Michigan's first governor, Stevens T. Mason, on one side and the state coat of arms and "a soldier and a lady" on the other. The first flag is completely lost, and no images of it exist that have been found. The motto balances the two main ideals of the state, the freedom of the individual and the welfare of the common good. The state seal is supported on both sides by pine branches with pine needles, representing the small pine branches worn at the battle of Plattsburgh during the War of 1812. The state seal has a shield with a pine tree in the center representing the state's forests. Under the pine tree stands a cow and 3 sheaves of wheat, which represent the strong Vermont industries of dairy and agriculture while behind the pine tree the Green Mountains are shown. On top of the shield sits a deer's head showing the wildlife of Vermont.    The Vermont State flag has multiple variations and versions throughout the state's history. The original state flag was the same flag as the flag of the Green Mountain Boys. Later it was changed to look similar to the National Flag of the United States, only to later once again be changed to avoid confusion with the US Flag.  Proposals emerge in the state to revert the flag back to its original state flag of the Green Mountain Boys; however, no bill has been successful. 3x5 Rhode Island State Flag For Sale The state flag of Rhode Island (and Providence Plantations) is a white field with a golden anchor in the center. This anchor represents hope and is surrounded by 13 stars of gold, which represent not only the original 13 colonies but also representing Rhode Island as the 13th state to ratify the constitution. Under the anchor, a blue ribbon reads "Hope." The anchor and the word hope are said to be inspired by the bible verse in Hebrews 6:18-19 which has the phrase "hope we have as an anchor of the soul." These symbols were used in the state as early as the 1640's when Rhode Island colonist were fleeing Massachusetts for religious beliefs.  The current flag of the state of Rhode Island was adopted in 1897. The current state flag of WV was adopted March 7th, 1962 by the state legislature. A blue stripe bored on all 4 sides a field of pure white with the states coats of arms in the center of the flag. The West Virginia state seal is wreathed by 2 swags of Rhododendron maximum with a red ribbon above the seal reading "State of West Virginia". The white field is to symbolize purity while the blue represents the bond of the Union. 2 other red ribbons appear on the flag, one tied and one reading "Montani Semper Liberi" which translates to "Mountaineers are always free." The state's coat of arms features two men; a farmer and a miner, to represent agriculture and industry in the state. The farmer holds an ax and a plow in front of a corn stalk while the miner holds a pickax with a sledgehammer and anvil behind him. The men stand on either side on a boulder which is inscribed with the date "June 20 1863", which is the date West Virginia joined the Union. In front of the boulder laying on the ground are two crossed rifles and a Phrygian cap, also called the cap of Liberty. 3x5 North Dakota State Flag For Sale The North Dakota state flag is basically an exact copy of the banner carried by the North Dakota troop contingent in the Phillippine-American War and was adopted on March 3rd, 1911. The flag is meant to resemble the Great Seal of the United States. Interestingly the flags official proportions are 33:26 (shorter than most state flags) however; in practice, they are sold as 5:3 ratios.The flag features a bald eagle holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons, set on a field of dark blue.
