3x5 New Mexico State Flag For Sale The New Mexico state flag is a field of yellow with a red sun symbol of the Zia in the center. Designed in 1920 to highlight the states Indian Pueblo and Nuevo Mexico Hispano roots. The colors are inspired by the flags of Habsburg Spain (the Cross of Burgundy flag,) and the Crown of Aragon, which was brought by the conquistadors. New Mexico is one of only 4 state flags to not contain the color blue. The state held a design contest, which was won by Harry Mera of Sante Fe. As an archaeologist, he was familiar with the Zia Sun symbol which held sacred meaning. Four is a sacred number which symbolizes the circle of life. The current state flag of WV was adopted March 7th, 1962 by the state legislature. A blue stripe bored on all 4 sides a field of pure white with the states coats of arms in the center of the flag. The West Virginia state seal is wreathed by 2 swags of Rhododendron maximum with a red ribbon above the seal reading "State of West Virginia". The white field is to symbolize purity while the blue represents the bond of the Union. 2 other red ribbons appear on the flag, one tied and one reading "Montani Semper Liberi" which translates to "Mountaineers are always free." The state's coat of arms features two men; a farmer and a miner, to represent agriculture and industry in the state. The farmer holds an ax and a plow in front of a corn stalk while the miner holds a pickax with a sledgehammer and anvil behind him. The men stand on either side on a boulder which is inscribed with the date "June 20 1863", which is the date West Virginia joined the Union. In front of the boulder laying on the ground are two crossed rifles and a Phrygian cap, also called the cap of Liberty. 3x5 Rhode Island State Flag For Sale The state flag of Rhode Island (and Providence Plantations) is a white field with a golden anchor in the center. This anchor represents hope and is surrounded by 13 stars of gold, which represent not only the original 13 colonies but also representing Rhode Island as the 13th state to ratify the constitution. Under the anchor, a blue ribbon reads "Hope." The anchor and the word hope are said to be inspired by the bible verse in Hebrews 6:18-19 which has the phrase "hope we have as an anchor of the soul." These symbols were used in the state as early as the 1640's when Rhode Island colonist were fleeing Massachusetts for religious beliefs.  The current flag of the state of Rhode Island was adopted in 1897. 3x5 North Dakota State Flag For Sale The North Dakota state flag is basically an exact copy of the banner carried by the North Dakota troop contingent in the Phillippine-American War and was adopted on March 3rd, 1911. The flag is meant to resemble the Great Seal of the United States. Interestingly the flags official proportions are 33:26 (shorter than most state flags) however; in practice, they are sold as 5:3 ratios.The flag features a bald eagle holding an olive branch and arrows in its talons, set on a field of dark blue. The eagle carries a red ribbon that reads "One nation made up of many states" in its beak.  The eagle's breast is protected by a shield with 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies of America. 3x5 New York State Flag For Sale The New York State flag is the coat of arms of the State of New York on a field of dark blue.The coat of arms was adopted in 1778 and displays a shield in the center with a masthead ship and a sloop on the Hudson River. It is bordered by a grassy shore and a mountain range with the sun rising behind it. This represents the symbols of inland and foreign commerce. The shield is supported by 2 figures, Liberty on the left and Justice on the right. Liberty has the imagery of a Phrygian cap raised on her pole with her left foot atop a crown, representing the freedom from the Britsih monarchy. Justice is blindfolded, representing impartiality, and holding scales, representing fairness, and a sword. A banner wrapping from the feet of Liberty and Justice reads "Excelsior", which is commonly translated as "Ever Upward." With a similar color scheme as the American flag, this flag has 2 red stripes and a white stripe in the middle with a blue canton with the Georgia state coat of arms in gold encompassed by 13 white stars, which represent the original 13 colonies. Georgia's coat of arms symbolizes the states constitution with an arch, the 3 branches of government with pillars guarded by a colonial dressed soldier with his sword raised guarding the states constitution. Wrapped on the pillars are the words "Wisdom, Justice, and Moderation," which is the Georgia state motto. 3x5 Nebraska State Flag For Sale The Nebraska state flag contains the Nebraska state seal in gold and silver on a blue field. The flag was officially designated the state flag in 1963, which makes Nebraska one of the last states to adopt an official state flag. The Nebraska state seal features a steamboat in the Missouri river, a blacksmith, and his anvil, a cabin with harvested wheat, as well as a train heading to the Rocky Mountains. The images represent the importance of settlers and agriculture. A banner above the image reads "Equality before the law." Around the outer ring of the state seal, it reads "Great Seal of the State of Nebraska, March 1st, 1867," which is the date the state joined the union.  The Nebraska flag was originally requested in 1925 by a bill that called for the state seal in gold and silver on a field of national blue," this was after a 1921 bill had called for a change of the original state seal. The architect of the Nebraska State Capitol, Bertram Goodhue, designed a new state seal (shown below) that was more symbolic in nature. However, it failed to pass the legislature. The Utah flag consists of the Utah State Seal on a field of navy blue encircled by a golden circle.  In the center of the seal, a white shield with the state symbol of a beehive sits with sego lily on either side, representing peace. The shield is pierced by 6 arrows crosswise. The word "Industry" is written in blue which is meant to mean steady effort. The United States National Flag flows behind the shield showing support of the nation. On top of the shield, an American Eagle sits with his wings reached out showing protection whether during peace or war. 2 dates are displayed on the flag, 1847 and 1896. 1847 to represent the year the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was reestablished by Brigham Young in the state of Utah and 1896 representing the year Utah joined the Union of the United States.
