Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’d like to clear up an important misunderstanding for you and anyone reading: yes, you absolutely can drive with our hitch mount flagpole system.
What cannot be guaranteed is how long a flag itself will last while driving, because flag wear is influenced by many variables outside of our control — such as:
• Flag Material: Nylon flags are lighter and catch wind more easily, while polyester/poly-blend flags are heavier and more durable for higher-wind or driving conditions .
• Driving Speed: The faster you drive, the more stress is placed on the fabric.
• Climate & Weather: Hot sun, rain, coastal salt air, or high winds will naturally shorten a flag’s lifespan.
• Flag Size: Larger flags catch more wind and experience more strain.
Our Phoenix Outrigger Flagpole and hitch mount hardware are made of aircraft-grade aluminum and engineered to withstand heavy use . The hitch itself is strong and designed for travel — the only limitation is the durability of the fabric flags when exposed to highway speeds.
For customers who want to fly while driving, we recommend:
✅ Using a polyester/poly-extra flag for maximum durability.
✅ Keeping flag sizes within recommended ranges (3×5 or 4×6 depending on pole height).
✅ Monitoring the condition of your flag regularly, as flags are wearable items by nature .
We apologize if anything you heard sounded like the hitch was “only for camping.” That is not accurate — it is fully intended for driving use. We simply want to be transparent that while the hardware is built to last, no flag manufacturer can guarantee that fabric will not fray under the variable forces of the open road.
We appreciate you bringing this up, because it gives us the chance to clarify for everyone considering a hitch mount: your flagpole is road-ready — just choose the right flag for the conditions you’ll be driving in.
