3x5 Oklahoma State Flag For Sale

The Oklahoma state flag consists of the traditional Osage Nation buffalo-skin shield with seven eagle feathers set on a field of sky blue. On the Osage shield, it is covered by symbols of peace, the olive branch (representing the European Americans) and the Plains-style ceremonial pipe (representing the Native Americans.) Six brown crosses across the shield are the Native Americans symbol for the stars. The blue field envokes devotion while the posture of the shield with peace symbols represents a defensive or protective stance while showing love of peace by it's united people.

The current Oklahoma state flag is not the original flag from 1911-1925. The original flag was red, white, and blue with a large star and the number 46 in the middle, representing Oklahoma as the 46th State of the Union. The state government held a contest for a new flag design in 1924 fearing the red too closely associated with the red flag of communism. In 1925 the current flag was adopted after a winning entry by Louise Fluke; however, it did not have the words Oklahoma on it until 1941.

The Oklahoma state salute adopted in 1982 is as follows; "I salute the Flag of the State of Oklahoma: its symbols of peace unite all the people."
